Our Growth

Serve more Western Australian families, better.

Each year more families with ill or injured children reach out to Ronald McDonald House Charities WA beyond our capacity. Together in partnership with WA Government, Lotterywest, and the Stan Perron Charitable Foundation, we have undertaken a bold strategy in the aim that no family is turned away at their time of need.

The opening of Ronald McDonald House on Park as a temporary house solution was a significant milestone in our growth strategy.

Our next and most significant milestone is the expansion of the Ronald McDonald House at QEII.

Earlier this year, WA Government invested a further $2.5 million to support a business case and development plan for a major extension of RMH at QEII, with the aim to deliver accommodation for an additional 100 families a day from late 2028; transitioning families at RMH on Park to a renewed, bigger QEII House.

Our vision for RMH at QEII is to establish a world-class example of family-centred accommodation and essential services that support the Western Australian maternity, child and adolescent health systems.

Stage 1 – Community Consultation Completed

Earlier this year RMHC WA engaged Creating Communities to undertake a comprehensive community consultation with families, staff, volunteers, health partners, advocates for patients with disabilities and their families, as well as advocates for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families to inform concept design.

Stage 2 – Concept Design Underway

Informed by Stage 1, RMHC WA has engaged Hames Sharley to develop the design brief for the extension to Ronald McDonald House at QEII.

Stage 3 – Business Case Underway

Informed by Stage 1 & 2, RMHC WA has commenced a business case to WA Government for the extension to Ronald McDonald House at QEII.

Stage 4 – Capital Campaign Preparation

RMHC WA is in preparation to enter a capital campaign to support the QEII Expansion funding.
